My complaints about Posterous so far

I’ve been using Posterous pretty heavily for less than 24 hours now. Here are my complaints so far:

  • No Disqus comments integration.
  • Autoposting seems to only work when it wants.
  • If you have multiple Posterous blogs, you can’t granularly choose which ones autopost to which services when you e-mail post@blogname.posterous.com.
  • No way to upload an image from web editor. (And I’d like to be able to crop images I upload this way.)
  • There’s apparently no way to set your time zone, which results in incorrect time stamps.
Aside from those, this is working pretty well as a place to share my thoughts without having to worry about any kind of formal structure.

Disqus – probably working on it. Hope they fix time stamps first. It’s all PST.Autoposting? To where? No problems here except for some docs & Scribd. Otherwise it’s smooth.Granular… I can post to twitter+flickr@blogname.posterous.com. Or flickr+youtube or whatever.Upload image: use gmail rich text editor and go to labs and enable image placement. Works OK.Time zone. What I said. Also a bug sometimes when you edit a post in the posterous editor and then save and it can’t find the page. Back button and save it again usually works.Posting private can be nice (private@blogname.posterous.com). Then you can see how it looks before release. You can also share the link for private posts if you want feedback.Peter

Thanks, Peter. I had some trouble this morning with autoposting to Twitter, Tumblr and WordPress. It’s good that you can e-mail twitter+flickr@blogname.posterous.com for example, but you can’t send posts on one Posterous blog to one Twitter account and another blog to another Twitter account. Tumblr has the same problem.

I’m not sure if I get it. You’re talking about a single posterous account with multiple blogs. In that system you can only have a single twitter account attached. Is that what you mean? Hmm. You’re right. It would be nice to have multiple twitter accounts on a single posterous account. Maybe the code could be t-pfhyper or t-sewardtweets for mailing. I would send that along to the

I realize I’m being a little confusing. Probably best to mock up what I’m thinking in Photoshop before sending it along. On the plus side, I just realized all I have to do to reply to your comment is hit reply. Sweet. Though I think Disqus does that too.

I just figured out the commenting via email too! Was I close with what I said? if you have multiple Posterous accounts, you can hook to multiple single twitters. I have pfhyper and sewardprofile. They are separate.
